Akita Inu (Definite Introduction)
The Akita dog belongs to the sharp-mouthed dog breed. It is powerful and healthy, and is particularly fond of dredging. The overall appearance looks very healthy, with a well-proportioned figure and a good temperament. The body structure is very compact and the proportions are also very good. For Akita, the female is longer than the male, and the male dog is about 26 to 28 inches tall at the shoulder. Female dogs are approximately 24 to 26 inches tall at the withers.
The Akita's head is thick, but in proportion to the body, with no wrinkles. Viewed from the top, the surface of the head is a blunt triangle. The eyes are dark brown, small, deep and triangular in shape, with black eye circles. The nose is broad and black. The ears are triangular in shape, slightly rounded at the tips, broad at the base, and widely spaced at the base. They are powerfully erect and small. The lips are black and not droopy, the tongue is pink, and the teeth are abundant.
The neck is strong and muscular and short, the body is slightly longer than the height, the ribs are well expanded, and the chest muscles are well developed. The shoulders are thick and powerful, the hindquarters are broad, well muscled and the bone mass is not comparable to that of the forelimbs. Generally, the dewclaws on the forelimbs are not removed; the dewclaws on the hindlimbs need to be removed. The tail is large and full, set high at the base and curled on the back.
The Akita’s coat is double-coated, with a rich, soft, deep undercoat that is slightly shorter than the topcoat. The coat is straight, stiff and set well on the body. The coat is relatively easy to care for.
The Akita dog has a light and powerful pace and quick response. It is a dog breed that likes to exercise. Therefore, breeders should pay attention to wearing it to exercise more often to keep the body healthy.
